Teaching
The OBM Academy was founded by Dr. Maria Relucio (she/her, elle), a distinct professional, who has extensive experience and training in Philosophy, Education, Behavioural Science and Law.
With over two decades of teaching experience, she holds an MA in Education and a PhD in Social Justice Education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. Her postgraduate training in Psychology of Mental Health and Well-being (PgDip, University of Wolverhampton, UK), Behavioural Science and Behaviour Analysis from the Institute of Child Education and Psychology (ICEP, Ireland), Florida Institute of Technology (Melbourne, Florida, US) and OBM Dynamics (The Netherlands) has equipped her with a unique perspective on the applications of Behavioural Science and Behavioural Psychology. She is a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA), a Qualified Behaviour Analyst (QBA), an International Behaviour Analyst (IBA) and a Registered Behaviour Analyst (The College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts, Ontario, Canada), specializing in three areas: Behaviour Analysis in Education, Organizational Behaviour Management (OBM) and Acceptance & Commitment Training (ACTr). Maria Relucio is also an OBM Foundations Accredited Trainer with APMG International (UK). She is a member/observer of the United Nations (UN) Behavioural Science Working Group. Maria created a resource platform for learners, parents and families, educators, and behaviour analysts to access free resources in Behaviour Analysis in Education, promoting effective teaching and inclusive learning for diverse learners. Maria also teaches courses and trains professionals in various fields and industry settings at The Organizational Behaviour Management Academy.
Maria Relucio's professional journey is marked by her diverse expertise and qualifications. In addition to her extensive teaching and research experience in Education and practice in Behavioural Science, she is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEX, UK). Her training in Philosophy (BA, MA), her LLB (Hons) from the University of London (UK), and her LLM in International Law from the Université catholique de Louvain (Belgium) provide a robust structure to her practice as a Legal Executive working in an international setting and supporting or collaborating with multinational organizations. Maria's early areas of interest are in Public International Law and Human Rights Law. She has gained the World Health Organization (WHO) Mental Health, Quality Rights and Human Rights certification as a coach/trainer providing legal education within the intersections of civil and political rights and economic, social and cultural rights in accessing and advocating for quality Mental Health and Quality of Life supports. Maria further specialized in Public International Law, Business Law, and data and technology legal compliance. Her certifications further demonstrate her acumen in approaching the complex nuances within the intersections of Human Rights Law, Business Law and Data and Technology Law as a Certified Artificial Intelligence Transformation Leader (CAITL) from the United States Artificial Intelligence Institute (USAII), a Certified Information and Privacy Professional / Canada (CIPP/C), and her membership in the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
Significant contributions to Global Social Justice initiatives also mark Maria Relucio's professional journey. She has led and managed diverse, large-scale, complex projects to promote accessibility, accommodation, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB). Since 2016, she has been a voting member of the ARCH Disability Law Centre in Ontario, Canada. She has been involved as an ad hoc Chair and Member of Special Education Appeal Boards (SEABs), supporting Ontario families. Maria has also authored numerous publications on the topic of DEIB. Her dedication to promoting DEIB is reflected in her status as a Certified Diversity Executive (CDE) with the Institute of Diversity Certification (IDC, US) and her recognition as an esteemed Fellow of the Institute of Diversity & Equality Professionals (FIEDP, UK).
